I AM getting ripped... update

So I’m still on my "Getting Ripped Challenge" (you didn’t think I’d quit, now did you?! Hell no, I’ve kicked in the overdrive!)

I’ve shaken things up a bit since I last posted about my diet and work-out plan. I’ve basically been following the work-out regimen I posted earlier, and have been eating according to the diet plan you can find later on in this post. To shake things up and keep my body guessing, I’m going to switch to a so called 2-split, in other words when I’m at the gym I’ll either work-out the upper body or the lower body (all in the same workout).

The split will look like this (I may occasionally switch some exercises up to surprise my body):

Day 1 – upper body, Heavy Maximum Training (HMT):

Bench Press, 8 set, 5 reps @ 8RM (repetition maximum)
Seated Row, 8 set, 5 reps @ 8RM
Chins, 8 set, 5 reps @ 8RM
Seated Military Press, 8 set, 5 reps @ 8RM
Rest 60 sec between sets

Day 2 – lower body, Light Explosive Training (LET):

Squats, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Weighted Leg Raises, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Dead Lift, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Crunches w Weights, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Standing Calf Raise, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Rest 90 sec between sets

Day 4 – upper body, Light Explosive Training:

Incline Bench Press, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Barbell Row, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Barbell Curls, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Triceps pushdowns, 4 set, 10 reps @ 12RM
Rest 90 sec between sets

Day 5 – lower body, Heavy Maximum Training:

Hack Squat, 8 set, 5 reps @ 8RM
Lying Leg Curl, 8 set, 5 reps @ 8RM
Lying Weighted Leg Raises, 8 set, 5 reps @ 8RM
Seated Calf Press, 8 set, 5 reps @ 8RM
Rest 60 sec between sets (except seated calf press; 30 sec)

Weekly schedule:
Day 1: Upper body (HMT)
Day 2: Lower body (LET)
Day 3: Rest
Day 4: Upper body (LET)
Dag 5: Lower body (HMT)
Dag 6: Rest
Dag 7: Upper body (HMT – restart of cycle)

As for the diet, this is EXACTLY what I’m eating every day, including exactly how many calories and grams of carbs, fat and protein.

Phew! Now you know exactly how I’m getting ripped. Above working out at the gym, I take a one hour walk every morning, and most evenings. I do interval training around 3-4 times a week.

I’ve lost 5.5 pounds so far (3 weeks in). Still got around 8 to lose… I plan on hitting my target weight in early June.

Upcoming London Workshop Hype

Next weekend (2-4 May) it’s time for another London bootcamp, and I’ll be instructing at this one (I couldn’t make it to the last bootcamp with The Don and Mr M as I was busy). Guys let me tell you, I’m super-excited about this one. I haven’t done a bootcamp since the Stockholm one in March, my game is on fire right now and I love teaching guys all this so every prediction states that this workshop will nothing short of mind-blowing.

Sheriff and Soul will be there too, as well as Vercetti. I’m psyched about hanging out with Sheriff as I haven’t seen him in a while now as he’s been living on the beach in Thailand for a couple of months, and hanging out with Soul and the V man is always a blast. We are going to Rokk this workshop, and the guys attending this one should consider themselves lucky : )

What’s really interesting is that we have a great diversity in the instructor set up for this one; I’m focusing on Same Night Lay Game, Soul’s the expert on Direct and Day Game, and Sheriff’ specialty is Relationship management and Dates. So no matter what kind of game you are interested in, we’ve got it covered… big time. Next stop for the lucky guys on the bootcamp: Getting the girl of your dreams.

Next weekend is going to be awesome. Booya!

It's a funny thing...

It's a funny thing that we are always looking for magic pills and quick fixes in life. I just came to think about this since I'm doing my "getting ripped challenge". I've had great progress, and things are starting to look really good - still I can't shake the feeling that I'm making too slow of a progress, and I want to speed it up.

I guess it's the same thing for a lot of guys when they start off practicing game; they think they aren't progressing fast enough and some get discouraged (quitters never end up with the hottie!!!) while others get more motivated and puts in the next gear (these people are called "winners". Are you one?)

What you got to realize is that everything you do is a marathon, not a sprint. There are no quick fixes or magic bullets. Hard work and dedication is the only path to success. Just keep being focused on your goals and actively work towards them, and you WILL reach them. And let me tell you, it feels AWESOME when you look back and see exactly how much distance you've covered since you started...

New blog series! “Rokker shares his views on…”

Hey guys, to keep this blog regularly updated with interesting material, an idea for a new series popped up in my head. It’s called “Rokker shares his views on…”, and is a series where I will share my views on different community related topics. Topics of discussion will be (amongst others) “Canned Openers vs. Improvised Openers, what’s the best way to go?”, “Direct or indirect game?”, “Does looks matter?” and a bunch of other interesting topics.

Basically, I'll share my viewpoint on different ways to look at the game, and how I game. To make this even more interesting, I would love to hear from you guys what you want to read about and I’ll write up my thoughts about it.

My first topic for the series will be “Canned Openers vs. Improvisation, what’s the best way to go?”, so without further ado:

Rokker shares his views on…
“Canned Openers vs. Improvised Openers, what’s the best way to go?”

It is true that the opener is just a way of starting a conversation, and that the opener is not a big deal, and once you get some solid skill down you can open with pretty much anything. That being said, guys aren’t opening nearly enough sets per night when they are starting out – and as a consequence usually think that opening is their biggest sticking point when they come to us to do a bootcamp or when they take a 1on1 with me (well duh, you gotta open to learn how to open!). They usually mention that they don’t know what to say to start a conversation (and neither did I when I started out) so we supply them with canned openers so they can start getting experience. Once they learn how to open technically correct with the canned opener, they can now switch to improvised openers and still open well (and we encourage them to do the switch) because they know the fundamentals of a good opener.

So canned openers definitely has a purpose when you are starting out, and instructors usually use canned openers on bootcamps to show students that the material works (so the student can use the same material and focus on delivery and sub-communication instead of trying to come up with cool shit to say), but the more experienced you get, the more and more you can improvise your opener. However, sometimes it’s nice to open with a canned opener even at instructor level; especially if you have an off night where you are out of state and need to snap out of it.

So I still use canned openers sometimes (they are all constructed by myself though, might be something to note), when I’m feeling out of state or when I see a set and need to say something in a split-second (if like a hot moving set just walks by). That being said, my improvisational openers wouldn’t be nearly as good as they are now if I hadn’t practiced canned openers first, as I would have no reference what a good opener could sound like or what reactions to expect from a good opener.

There’s also something to be said about using “the short set method”, and “short setting the room”. It’s a technique where you open pretty much every set in the room (social proof), but only stay in for a little while to build recognition and social proof (the subject is a post in of itself, but something we teach at bootcamps and 1on1s, very effective especially for overcoming approach anxiety). Using this method definitely helps your improvisational opening skills, so I absolutely recommend you to do it.

So to conclude, I think canned openers is a great resource for beginners and I definitely recommend them to use them. The more experience you get, and the better understanding you get for what works and what doesn't (especially what you are sub-communicating), the more you can switch to improvisational openers and shake it up a bit. In the end, opening becomes such an easy part of PU that you don't even think about what you open with. More often than not I have no idea how I opened the set... like I literally forget because it's not something I think about, I just do it (lol Nike should pay me for saying that!).

Do you want to be a natural?

So you want to be a natural. You want to attract women without having to lean on the crutches of stacked routines and lines, and just “be yourself” and have women being drawn to you like bees to honey… You know, you are not alone. That’s the path I’ve chosen too – that’s why I’m promoting and talking so much about inner game, because in the end that’s what will get you the consistent results and act like someone who’s naturally attractive to women.

But when you are starting out, inner game “mumbo-jumbo” (as it’s easy to perceive it as) is the LAST thing you want to read about. You want the tips, tricks, lines, routines and a systematic approach to it all, right? That’s what I like about the system we are teaching, we supply solutions for whatever level of game you are currently at. If you need routines and lines in the beginning to build up your confidence and get the ball rolling, then that’s what we’ll deliver so you can start off on your path towards getting whatever you want out of this. But that is just scraping the surface of what all this is about. When you’ve been involved in this for a while, you realize it goes a lot deeper than that. Think of it as an iceberg, where outer game (in other words, tips, tricks and techniques) is the tip of the iceberg that you can see, but what really makes an impact is what’s going on under the surface (the rest of the iceberg). We are teaching this too, but you’ve got to have the pre-requisites and a certain understanding of game in general in order to gain anything out of it… or it will fall on deaf ears.

What I’m going to write about in this article is what you need to do and realize if you want to come “full circle” in this and be a naturally attractive guy – what one would call a natural. When you realize these principles it will all suddenly click for you and everything makes sense, and you’ll attract women without “you doing anything”. If this doesn’t make sense, don’t worry. It’s all a progression. Come back to this post 3 months from now and I’m positive it will make much more sense to you once you have more experience.

Before I present the principles that will move you towards becoming a natural, I just want to clear up some semantics. One might say that you can never be a natural after being exposed to the community, since you now no longer are “natural” (you have learnt something right, so it’s no longer fully natural and unconscious) but that’s not really interesting. What I mean with being a natural is that you attract women with who you are as a person, not what kind of game you are running or exactly what you are saying. In other words, YOU are always being attractive – it’s no longer only what you are doing AT THE MOMENT that’s attractive. So instead what IS interesting is what you can do to move and progress towards that attractive being, where you attract women effortlessly.

Natural game is 98% inner game

The first principle is that natural game is almost all about inner game. When you have the right mindsets and beliefs about how the worlds works and your place in it, a lot of the outer game pieces are going to fall into place without you having to think about them. You’ve got to have positive and healthy views on yourself in order to become a natural. Natural game comes from what you project from deep inside of you out to the world, and if that’s not shiny and attractive, well guess what; neither will you be to women.

That being said, it’s always useful to know what to do in certain situations, and this is knowledge comes from experience. That’s why it’s harder to understand natural game for someone who’s new, because you have nothing to lean against except your own inner game. So in essence, for someone who’s not a natural it’s sometimes more useful to try and not be a natural and build a strong skill-set first. Then when you’ve mastered that, you go back and try the natural approach. Now you have situational confidence from your outer game skill-set, and built more inner game with the successes you’ve gotten from that, and can now try to go more natural.

Act as if (you are already there)

This is a super important concept. If you want to develop your natural game skill set, you’ve got to act like you already have it. There can’t be a single doubt in your mind that you are the biggest PIMP there is, and that all girls love you. Carry yourself and act like you are already living in sexual abundance, and that getting girls is no biggie for you… and soon it won’t be. Again, natural game is what’s shining through from your inner game. If that’s not tight, playing natural game would be as useful as a car without an engine. Listen, stop reading for a while and really think about this concept. How do you think you’d act differently from how you are acting now, if you already had the amount of success with girls that you are dreaming of? How would it change the way you perceive yourself?

Detach yourself from the outcome

Again, to be amazing at natural game you’ve got to have rock solid inner game. Something that will help you achieve that inner game is to detach yourself from the outcome. So what do I mean with detaching yourself from the outcome? Well look, imagine you have two supermodels in your bed every night. How would that affect the way you act in the night club the same night? Much like I talked about acting as “if you are already there” in the last segment, the way you’d act would be significantly different from the way you’d act if you haven’t gotten laid for three months, right? The difference is that when you have two supermodels in your bed regardless what happens in the night club then you don’t care what happens in the nightclub. In other words, you have detached yourself from the outcome of every interaction that night. If something goes down, cool, otherwise its fine anyways. You don’t stand or fall depending on the outcome of the night – and you definitely won’t let the outcome shake or stir up your inner game.

Be in the moment

Getting out of your head and enjoying the moment is crucial if you want to reap the rewards of natural game. If you are in the moment, you will create a sort of presence that will draw people in to your reality. It might be hard to understand these concepts if you’ve never experienced being in the moment before when it comes to pick-up, and that’s why explaining natural game requires a lot more of the practitioner than “tactical” game. You basically need to get out of your head and stop thinking about what’s “next in the model”. That’s why it’s really useful to have practiced the model before you start with natural game, because you know instinctively what comes next without having to think about it. In other words, following the model is a natural progression that doesn’t occupy any mental space, and you can totally focus on being in the moment.

Don’t worry what girls think of you

In fact, you shouldn’t worry what anyone thinks of you. Natural game is nothing for the faint hearted, because you can’t be afraid to put your personality on the line and you can’t get away with “putting up a little act”. You’ve got to be truly attractive all the time, because it’s something that you are supposed to BE, not something you are doing or acting out.

Feel that you have the same value (or higher) as the girl

Again, act as if (you have high value). The only way natural game is going to work is if you have strong beliefs that your value is really high. If you believe that your value is not as high as or higher than the girl you are interested in, you have already lost. Think about it. How can you display confident and attractive behavior around someone that you believe have higher value than you? You can’t. So, you’ve got to believe that your value is equal to or higher than the girl’s.

Realize that a natural with tactics is unstoppable (unconscious competence) compared to a natural who doesn’t know when and where an interaction has gone wrong

A natural is usually only good in one particular setting. For example, the bartender that gets laid like a rock-star in the club might not be able to pick up chicks from the mall. Why? Because usually he hasn’t broken down what he does so he doesn’t really know what he does that give him success. He is just happy with the results he’s getting in that particular setting and sees no need to expand it to other areas and under other conditions.

If you devote yourself to this and learn the core skills of both natural game and “tactical game”, you won’t be situational dependant. How awesome isn’t that? You will be an attractive guy where ever you are, no matter the setting. But in order to TRULY understand every situation, you need to have a lot of knowledge of how the system works and be self-correcting along the way. This is why someone who has studied social arts always will have the upper hand on someone who hasn’t.

A lot of companies out there teach natural game, but what I like about Love Systems is that we have the best of both worlds. What I want to communicate to you in this article is that reaching a true natural level of game is a process, and not something that will happen overnight. But if you dedicate yourself to the cause and start working towards it, you’ll eventually reach it and it’ll be worth every minute spent.

Natural game with knowledge of tactical game will make you unstoppable…

What I really like about 1 on 1’s

I really enjoy doing 1on1’s with students, and what I really like about them is that I can truly dig in and fine-tune the student’s game when he has reached a plateau and make sure he starts progressing again. In bootcamps we take the students and mold and shape them so they can start their journey towards mastery (we’ll get the awesome guy every once in a while who’s got a lot of the principles down already, and then it’ll turn into an advanced session) and while it’s awesome and a lot of fun to have a group of guys in field, it goes without saying it’s more effective to have me just put the spotlight on YOUR game and not having to share the limelight :)

I’ve been having a lot of success with the 2 day 1on1 structure lately (you can check out reviews here and here). Giving me two days to work on your sticking points gives me a lot of time to hammer in important concepts and make sure you progress way past your current sticking points. I’ve done this with both a guy who started off completely fresh with very limited field experience and a guy who’s been around for awhile, and both went down equally awesome. In the first one it’s really neat to start off with a clean slate and make sure you “plug in the right software from the start” and in the other one it’s really cool to be able to help the guy overcome sticking points he’s been having for a while and present ideas and thoughts that were new and exciting even though the student been involved in the community for awhile.

I’ve also been really lucky with my 1on1’s and have met a bunch of really cool guys, and no creeps at all… knock on wood. I think the whole community is bringing in a lot of cool guys nowadays, now it’s not super underground anymore (thank God). Like one of my ex –students invited me to both the Milan and Paris fashion week (with backstage passes!). Hmm actually, coming to think of it, me being backstage of a big fashion show might not be such a great idea; I think the fashion designers the following year would be pretty pissed at me for putting all the models on maternity leave.

If you are interested in doing a 1on1 with me and bring YOUR game to the next level, contact Jeremy at the office to book it or to ask questions about prices or dates, or email me if you want more specific information on what we’ll be covering on your session.

Comments on my Getting Ripped Challenge

I’ve received quite a few comments on my previous post on my Getting Ripped Challenge (thanks a lot for your insights guys, I really appreciate it). Since I read all comments, I wanted to bring some of the points up here on the blog and respond to them.

Don’s comment:
“I suggest keeping a lil notebook of the exercises reps and weight you do so you can monitor your progress. I actually dont do this myself but I should lol.”

Dear Don (lol), you are right. That would be a good thing to do, and I’ll start doing that right away. This is really useful from a motivational viewpoint; it’s always easier to motivate yourself to keep it up if you see progress in what you are doing – much like you are hopping up on that scale every week to measure your progress you want to do the same with the weights you are lifting.

Phil’s comment:
I think you’re taking in too many processed carbs (pasta).
If you’re really committed to eating optimally for physical performance, I’d recommend The Zone Diet (Barry Sears).
There’s no better nutritional roadmap for fueling physical performance. Also, I’d check out crossfit.com. It’ll blow your mind.

Yup, that’s why I switched one of the meals out (the dinner), and I’m not eating pasta there anymore. I’ve switched that to eating heaps of vegetables (with chicken, prawns or tuna) instead. I’m going to check out the Zone Diet as soon as I have time (busy, busy, busy).

iCY’s comment:
omg dude eat your veggies. a carrot is your only vegetable?…
1) my suggestion is take out the wholegrain pasta for dinner and replace it with a HEAPING portion of mixed vegetables.
2) also be careful with the wholegrain pasta for lunch, people can get carried away VERY easily with pasta since its very dense in calories,
3) hows your pre/post workout nutrition? make sure you consume a protein shake thats 20g protein/40g sugars (helps spike insulin to facilitate protein uptake) search for “john berardi” and read up on his methods for pre/post workout nutrition.
your workout routine seems fine. you could change it to meet more of a fat-burning routine by reducing rest times, lowering the amount you lift, and super setting heavy exercises back to back in a circuit.
(for example, doing bench press & bent over barbell rows back to back, rest 1 minute, repeat)

I agree with 1) and switched that meal out. I’m aware of the density of calories in pasta, and make sure I don’t eat too much of it. My post nutrition is a protein shake with a banana. I’ll check out John Berardi’s advice too. Regarding super setting, we are currently experiencing a bit with super setting in the gym, and so far it’s pretty damn fun and effective. You get a different work out for sure, so I’m sure we’ll keep experimenting with that.

Alex Kay’s comment:
A small suggestion (maybe not so small): Don’t train different muscle groups like a bodybuilder would.
It’s just not worth it.
It’s better to train like 3 days a week, and go through it all those 3 days. Squats, deadlifts, chin ups, pull ups, bench press, dips, that’s almost it.
A whole day for calves and abs… Serious?
Back and legs are definately the most important, and my opinion is to train them a lot more than you do now.
This is only what works for me, I don’t know, you may be different, but feel free to write me back if you have any questions…

I’m following this sort of program to make sure I exercise every muscle group of my body. I agree with the fact that a lot of “foundational” exercises like squats and deadlifts are super-important, and they are a big part of my work-out regimen – I just don’t want to miss out on any particular muscle group. In fact, all the exercises that you mentioned are a part of my work-out. But if you follow that sort of schedule that you are suggesting, it would be counter-productive to go to the gym every day of the week. I want to make sure I make it a daily routine of mine to go to the gym, and thus I’ve chosen a program that allows me to do that and still work out efficiently.

Splitintwo’s comment:
Awesome, up with the gym! I also found the Max OT program helped me massively (Google it). I am now going up weights every 2-3 weeks which compared to my previous results are huge. I suspect how well it works changes depending on the person (and take the nutrient page with a pinch of salt he recommends so many supplements…) but the other parts are in my opinion fantastic.
I’d highly recommend trying it.

There’s a lot written about Max OT on the bodybuilding forum I’m lurking on, but I haven’t tried it myself. As it is right now, I’m pretty happy with the results I’m getting in the gym, I just need to make sure I eat correctly (and the right amount).

Again, thanks for all the comments, and keep ‘em coming!

As for game, I've been on fire lately... motivation, eating right and exercise does wonder for you ;) I'll be posting more game related stuff soon, I've just been kept busy with... life.

Peace,

Gettin' Ripped Update

So I've been on my "gettin' ripped" challenge for a week now, and can already see improvement in the mirror (I might be fooling myself, but hey, it's working! ;)) so I'm really happy with the progress I've made.

Below I've posted my work-out and diet schedule. If you don't go to the gym or eat somewhat clean, STOP BEING A LAZY BASTARD AND DO IT! lol. Seriously, I feel so much better when I'm working out on a regular basis and eat healthy. There's really no reason why you shouldn't drag your fat ass to the gym. So do it... come on, do it. Seriously, do it.

Work-out schedule:

Monday: Legs
Tuesday: Shoulders, upper back
Wednesday: Stomach, calves
Thursday: Lower back, arms
Friday: Chest
Saturday: Day off
Sunday: Day off

My cardio usually consist of running to the gym and back (around 30-40 mins total). Sometimes I work out before lunch and go for a run in the afternoon / evening (usually 20 mins of HIIT).

I probably should put Wednesday as a day off, but the schedule I have now fits better with going out socializing on the weekends... and sometimes I mix it up anyways, but I keep the training schedule the same way content wise.

Diet plan:
09.00 Breakfast: Oatmeal porridge, 2 eggs
12.00 Lunch: Wholegrain pasta with prawns, chicken or tuna
15.00 Snack: Protein drink with banana
18.00 Dinner: Wholegrain pasta with prawns, chicken or tuna
21.00 Snack: Cottage Cheese with strawberries
24.00 Late Snack (if hungry before bed): Carrot or banana

Sometimes I only eat one cooked meal per day and have another serving of oatmeal or protein drink. The protein drink is whey-90 (post-workout) and milk-90.

The optimum weight loss is approx 1-2 pounds per week (from what I've read), if you lose more you'll probably also lose muscle mass (which I of course don't want, only shed fat). So in 8 weeks I need to lose 13 pounds which is 1.625 pounds per week. That should be achievable without risking too much muscle loss. With the heavy work-out schedule I have, I doubt I will lose muscle anyways ;)

I've also drastically cut down on how my alcohol I pour down my throat... I think that's what really hindered me earlier. As you see I also don't eat a large amount of carbohydrates but try to push as many proteins in there as I can...

If anyone out there has suggestions, comments or questions feel free to leave a comment.

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT! New Seminar

As you all know Love Systems works hard on bringing the latest in game technology, secrets only previously known by those in the top levels of the game, to the bigger audience. We have done so not only in Bootcamps and by offering free advice on our blogs and on the forums, but also by offering special seminars like “Same Night Lays”, “Breakthrough Comfort” and “Day Game”.

Now Love Systems is once again ready to change the world of game; by offering the latest knowledge (something’s that we’ve been buzzing about for a long time at instructor level in the company) - a seminar we like to call “Gay Game”. That’s right folks, this is the pinnacle of pick-up, the ultimate pick-up seminar – attend it and it will improve your indirect game ten folds (guaranteed to DOUBLE your pull rate). You don’t necessarily have to turn gay (but when you think about it, why go through life with one arm tied behind your back?) , but knowing the secrets of Gay Game will improve your luck with the ladies in ways you can’t even imagine!

Let me ask you this; how many times have you seen a man who’s obviously incredibly gay hang around tons of beautiful women, with the girls giggling, touching and loving the guy? I see this all the time, and have always wondered what the secret attraction switch of being gay is. Through backwards engineering together with my Love Systems colleagues Savoy (the president of gayness), Braddock (probably the gayest man in the company) and Cajun (the guy with the most experience in this field) we have systematically broken down every step needed to perform Gay Game and reap the same rewards with ladies as the gayest man you could think of!

In the seminar, you will learn essential skills like:

  • “Jaggering” through a crowd, generating MASSIVE attraction with every guy in the place (demonstrated personally by Cajun, useful for social proof)
  • How to be 100% sexually unreactive towards beautiful women in your presence
  • AMOG ANY guy who’s trying to steal your girls by making moves on him
  • Learn how to “befriend” a guy for real
  • Using over-the-top hand movements to override logic and make girls emotional
  • Learn the game "Gay Chicken" that will turn ANY dying set around!
